ASPFriends.com 'aspngvs' list
Hello, I have a very large application written in asp.net/C#. In debugging mode (Visual Studio.NET) I have to recompile and restart everythink each time I make an adjustment to my code. Is there a way to compile in 'edit and continue' mode like in Visual C , or is this impossible? Best regards, Tim Musschoot

Hi all, I've searched Google, Google Groups, and support.microsoft.com for this and have found zilch. We've got a standard, shared assembly in which we keep a variety of things, including some shared web custom controls. My problem is that when I register the assembly for use on my ASPX and attempt to view my page in the designer, I get the error: Parser Error: Culture name Neutral is not supporte...

While the trial version is available, but the 60 days period is just not enough for me. Can any one suggest a cheaper way without being limited to a 60 day period? Any reply is appreciated. I have been addressing this problem since Beta 2 and apparently it is been ignored by M$. I will appreciate an status on this situation because it is creating a lot of delays in our development. The problem is that all the event entries in InitializeComponent disappear between saves. The following shows how it looks now. This used to have around 10 15 entries which we will have to restore from yes...

1. Create a new C# file in VS.NET 2. Delete all the default template code, and replace with public class MyClass { public static void Main( string[] args ) { System.Console.WriteLine("hello world"); } } 3. Use the outlining feature to collapse the class code, so you just see "public class MyClass ..." (with the dots in a box) 4. Press Ctrl F and tell it to find the string "hello" in "Current docum...

Moved from [aspngfreeforall] to [aspngvs] by Dana Coffey denigma@bellsouth.net I'm having difficulty getting VSNet Web Form Designer Generated Code generated by the SQLCommand and SQLConnection controls to use the connection string I've put in appSettings of Web.config. Do I need to forget about dragging these controls onto my pages and just do it by hand? They seem to force the use of the connect...

Moved from [aspngcs] to [aspngvs] by Douglas Reilly doug@accessmicrosystems.net Gentlemen, Let me describe a scenario which seems to me a reproducible bug in VS.Net : I am creating a ASP.Net web app in c#. In the aspx page ( or in ascx ), in the design mode I add some kind of data bound server side control ( like a datalist / datagrid ). Then use the templatecolumn for that data component which is...

We're using Visual Source Safe to control our sources. It works fine but there's one thing we couldn't figure out how to do. Maybe you're already doing, or know how to do, this. Here's the scenario: In March we publish the current version of our site to the live server and then continue to work on the project. In most cases some things still won't work, or are not complete. Now it turns out that t...
VS.NET / VSS? Any real world experiences? (5 replies)
ASPFriends.com 'aspngvs' list
Does anyone have any real world experience of working on a decent sized ASP.NET project using VS.NET and VSS to allow multiple developers to work on a site in tandem? Also, if you were to start an ASP.NET Web site project with a handful of remote developers, what products/tools would you recommend using? Is VS.NET/VSS the best bet or is there a better alternative? Thanks! Scott Mitchell mitchell@4...

Properties view does not show (sometimes) (3 replies)
ASPFriends.com 'aspngvs' list
I've had this problem occur on 3 machines now, so I know its not machine specific. Sometimes, my Properties view is not available from the right menubar. When I press F4 or choose it from the main menu, it only shows the option on the right menu bar. It never displays the properties unless I close the IDE and come back in. Has anyone else seen this? What gives??
Creating Custom Designer Controls (8 replies)

I'm interesting in creating custom designer controls. I'm not sure that's the right terminology, so I'll describe what I mean. Basically, I'd like to create a small GUI that enables people to assign the various properties of my web custom control. Could someone tell me what this is called and perhaps point me to some docs on it? Thanks! Ambrose *****************************************************...
Link and span tags etc are marked as faulty (2 replies)
ASPFriends.com 'aspngvs' list
Very annoying! In all my aspx pages, a few of my HTML tags like span, link and style are marked with a red wavy line, and it says 'The active schema does not support the element '[element name]'. The style property e.g does not show up in the properties list. I have, however, on occasion, seen these properties available and had no red markers. How do set my 'schema' to accept these tags and proper...

I require setting up a web application with a visual source safe control; I cannot, for network setting issues, use frontpage extensions. Anyone have any recommended books for Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Edition? I'm looking for some reading that will show me what this baby can do.
