Equivalent to App.Path? (2 replies)
microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb.upgrade
..NET indicates that the equivalent to App.Path is the System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly.Location property. It is not: 1. It uses the \bin folder for the location 2. It includes the file name. Is there any easy way to retrieve just the path of the assembly? Thanks David
Printing Perplexity in Promoting Project to .NET (6 replies)
microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb.upgrade
We are upgrading a project from VB6. The project uses an unmanaged OCX as a control for the display and editing of documents. These are complex documents with headers/footers, tables, fonts, alignments, etc. Thus writing directly to the PrintDocument is not an option. To print in VB6 we: For CurPage StartPage To EndPage Printer.Print OCXControl.PrintDevice Printer.hDC OCXControl.PrintPage CurPage ...

How to discard Ctrl keystroke (4 replies)
microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb.upgrade
We have need of hiding 5 Ctrl letter keystokes from an unmanaged OCX. In VB5/6 we just set the form KeyPreview to true, and in the form KeyDown event set KeyAscii 0 for those keystrokes. This prevented the COM component from seeing them, and we managed those keystrokes in the OCXControl.KeyUpEvent. In .NET the same pattern does not work, even when we set e.Handled True in the form KeyDown. e is pa...
Threading (5 replies)
microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb.upgrade
Hi VB6 COMponents are apartment threaded... After upgrading them to .NET class libraries we would like them to run on CE.NET with the same property (i.e. single threaded). Is there an attribute or something similar that will quickly lead us there? Some suggest synchronisation attributes and inheriting from ContextBoundObject but I think the Remoting namespace is not supported on CE so that seems l...

Hi, I've created several class libraries in VB6 and I now want to convert them to VB.NET. One thing that I haven't been able to figure out is how to set the descriptions for procedures, constants, etc. that appear in the object browser (aka. "helpstring", or "Summary" as it says in the VS.NET object browser). Any ideas? Thanx i.a. Michael
