Hello,

This is the first application I've built with the .net framework. I'm
pretty experienced in .asp but I've ran into a problem in the .net
environment. I have a combination of .asp & .aspx pages, as I'm more
familiar with .asp. I need to use session variables throughout the
project but my Session Variables in my Global.asax project are not seen
in .asp pages. I've tried creating a Global.asa but I can't seem to get
session values defined in my .aspx pages to be seen in my .asp pages.

Any Idea?

Thanks in advanced,

Tom

Hi Tom,

To put it simply you can not share session sate between ASP and ASP.NET,
however you can create a Serviced component or a COM+ Component, that stores
and retrieves data, and use that object on each page, via the OBJECT TAG in
asp, or as a Component in ASP.NET

In addition to the other suggestions, you could also
set a cookie in ASP.Net and that would be read-able in
Classic ASP.

Has anyone tried creating a (non web) .NET assembly to talk to the ASP.NET State Server? I was wondering what kind of protocol they use, and if I could maybe write an interface to it so my non-web projects could use a session state server.

This, in turn, could be ported to a COM app that the ASP pages could then call to maintain state in a .NET environment.
