Well I have tried to use this (VB.Net):

                Try
                    SmtpMail.Send( objMailMessage )
                Catch exMail As SmtpException
                    ''//Do this
                Finally
                    ''//Do that

                End Try

But of course this doen't work. I have looked for error handling of
SmtpMail in the documentation but havn't found any.

what type of exception are you seeing?

Can you just write a try{} catch{} block around it?
