Hi !!!

At present I use the following to detect null field values :

while (myReader.Read()) {
if (!myReader.IsDBNull(12)) {
..... my code ....
}
}

where myReader is a oledbdatareader

Is there any way by which I can use the literal field name instead of field
column number.

Hope you can help me !!!

Sum

Two ways OTTOMH:

if(!Convert.IsDBNull(myReader["myField"])) {
    ...
}

or

if(myReader["myField"] != DBNull.Value) {
    ...
}

Sum,

I don't know if I am right, but I do use like this:

if (!IsDBNull("field")){
//do something
}

There was no problem, since the function IsDBNull() takes an object as the
parameter...
You might try it...
