I am currently working on a project and am stuck in a very bad way. We need
to connect to a remote oracle server on the same network we are running our
asp.net apps from. I don't think the server we are storing our apps on has
the proper .dll files to establish the connection and frankly I don't know
if it would work once we had them. Does anyone have any solutions? I am a
real beginner with this stuff so I am not sure where to start.

Install the oracle client(it's free) on the machine hosting the asp.net app.
This will provide you with the necessary .dll. Make sure you can connect to
the database from that computer using SQLPlus(it comes with the oracle
client install). Once you get that working, the rest is ASP.NET coding to
access the database.

Dan,

you need to have a minimum of:
oracle client and proper network configuration (tnsnames.ora)
and the server needs to be listening for connections (listener.ora) and
also make sure the listener service is running on the db server.

Dan,

You'll need to install the Oracle connection software: Net 8 on your aps.net
apps server. The Oracle DBA for the Oracle database should be able to help
you out.
