I have an aspx that streams an image to the client. That image is created
dynamically, so I decided to cache. On my dev machine and on the QA server,
the cache yields great results. However, when I add exactly the same Cache
directive on the production server, there is no change, as if caching was
disabled.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Remas

Hi!

I tried to ask this on [aspngcache] and got no answer whatsoever.

--- original Message ---

I have an aspx that streams images to the client. These images are created
dynamically, so I decided to cache.
On my dev machine (Beta 2) and on the QA server (Final), the cache works
like a charm. However, when I add exactly the same Cache directive on the
production server (Beta 2), no caching is performed.
Anyone experienced that? Is there a global caching setting I've missed? Any
thoughts?

Thanks,
Remas

Beta 2 had 2 versions, premium included caching
capabilities, regular did not.

I seem to recall there was a "Premium" download that added caching support.
Was it for Beta 1 or 2; I can't recall. I did find a support newsgroup post
on this:

Here is an even more informative link:
http://www.aspnetpro.com/features/2002/01/asp200201rh_f/asp200201rh_f.asp
They do mention that there will not be a premium version of the final
release. Supposedly the final release includes the premium features in the
standard download.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a download location. Do you have an MSDN
subscription? Perhaps it was included on a CD at some point.

the premium edition was a beta2 only thing. the premium edition had the
caching. It's a complicated story as to why MS did. Scott Guthrie told me
the whole story at TechEd in Atlanta.

Caching capabilities are built into the ASP.NET 1.0 version.
