Hi List!

a collegue here asked me about "renaming all the asp pages of an
application from asp to aspx" :

Will the asp application work ?

If yes, will this app get some benefit of the .net framework ?

thanks,

Rolando

Rolando,

ASP files need to remain as .asp files.
However, ASP technology can run side-by-side with ASP.NET technology.
There is no automagic migration path between the two, though.

Cheers,
Dan

Really? I'm pretty sure that some simple ASP pages can run as ASPX pages -
just change the extension. Doing so should provide a small performance
increase immediately, but the fact that this would not work for complex
pages (which actually take longer to load) you might not see any measurable
difference on the pages that can be converted easily.

The biggest problem you probably run into is ASP pages that contain
functions and subroutines defined within the <% and %> tags. Those will not
work as aspx pages unless you enclose them in <SCRIPT> tags.
