Tim Musschoot
Network DirHi all,
I have tried ALMOST everything I can think of I have spent the whole of
yesterday and today reading about the system.io class and all it can do but
I hit a hard and frustrating wall when trying to use the
directory.create(\\myremoteserver\share\newfolder) I keep receiving can not
find path \\myremoteserver\share . When i try a
file.delete(\\myremoteserver\share\myfile.txt) then I get unknown username
or bad password.

You CANT give another machines SERVERNAME\ASPNET account permission on a
network share and even if I give that shared servers SERVERNAME\ASPNET
permissions on that folder I receive the error I have been looking at for
two days .

Can some one get me out of this rut , all the documentation I have read
shows one how to create a file on the local machine and that works fine I
have tried that BUT I need to create a file on a remote share . I have even
tried mapping a drive and same frustrating error "cant find path z:\) (z:
being the mapped drive I use!

ANYONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Thank you

Carlos

Little, Ambrose
Carlos,

You need to either run ASP.NET (or your application) as a domain user or
enable impersonation of some kind.

It depends on your situation as to which solution would be best.

I recommend to you (and the moderators) that this continue on aspngsec, as
this is a security-related issue and they'll be best able to help you on
that list.
