The ASP.NET runtime is 20 megs?

The Matrix web server is les than 1 meg?

What are the major differences between these two servers besides the local
only execution of the Matrix server?

The Asp.Net runtime is not a web server. It contains
the files necessary to run all the thousands of new
classes in the .Net framework, that's why it's so
large. The Matrix web server is just that, a small
web server to serve up Asp.Net pages, but you still
need the .Net framework installed.

Hope this helps!
Marcie

yes, the Matrix web server is written in managed code and is a =
surprisingly small amount of code. It is not meant to be a full fledged =
web server, just a simple development server for processing aspx pages.

Hi Greg,

=20

In fact, what you call the ASP .NET Runtime is in fact the .NET
Redistribuable Kit. The "full" .NET Framework SDK is about 130 Mb.

=20

The ASP .NET Web Matrix is a development tools which sits on top of the
.NET Framework (it's a native .NET C# application) and which targets the
.NET Framework as an execution environment. This means that the .NET
Framework is a prerequisite for ASP .NET Web Matrix. =20

=20

ASP .NET Web Matrix is not a server product, it's a development tool,
even if ASP .NET Web Matrix comes with a small HTTP server for testing
purposes.
