To validate a radio button group, is it necessary to build an
<asp:CustomValidator> function, or is there something already built-in?

Hi Howard,
You cud use the requiredfieldvalidator
for a RadioButtonList (if the validation is only ... that it is a required
field)
...FYI: but that doesnt work for a checkboxlist
