I have my web server up and running and was able to email from our inhouse
site using the SMTP service, but I had to install Exchange server 5.5 on the
the web server.

Needless to say, I am now having to use the Exchange Server to send mail and
not just relaying to it as before and I can no longer send mail fro mthe
webpages.

The mail server is working fine, we are not having problems with it, just
can not send out from a web page any longer.

I am not seeing any error messages in the event logs, nor am I seeing
anything the qeues waiting to be delivered.

I am sure something needs to change now on the site or code, but not sure
what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated folks.

Thanks in advance
Paul

HI Paul,

Check the following,

When you are sending mails you have to specify the smtp servers address(
note that in the beta2 release you didn't have to so if you have some sample
code for beta2 that might be your problem) you can set the smtp server like
this Smtp.server = "my.smtp.com" .

Also check that the user account your web application is running under
(usually MACHINENAME\ASPNET ) has permissions to send mail via smtp.

Exchange 5.5 by default sets permissions on the smtp relay so you might want
to check that out.

hTh let us know

Carlos

Under normal conditions if you install Exchange 5.5 with an Internet
Mail Service (IMS) on a Windows 2000 Server which has the IIS5 SMTP
service installed, the IIS5 SMTP service will be disabled when you
install the IMS and IMS takes over message delivery.
