I am working on a project where I need to access Sql Server 6.5 through
ADO.net and I am using the oledb provider. I have moving this project
from asp to asp.net, but I am having some major speed issues with
asp.net. When running this with asp the speed was fine, no problems
there, now it is extremely slow. It is bad enough that it times out if
more than 6 items are returned. I set up a trace on the server and
when I run the asp version the entries just fly by, with the asp.net
version it is extremely slow and the entries only sporadically appear
during the other processes. What can I troubleshoot here and has anyone
else had issues with accessing 6.5 with ado.net??

Here is my connection string with pwd and username omitted:
OleDbConnection oOleConn = new
OleDbConnection("Provider=sqloledb;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Data
Source=192.168.31.5,1433;Initial Catalog=Deluxe1;User ID=;Password=;");

I have tried using CommandType's StoredProcedure and Text. Any ideas or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ignore this email, I traced the slowdown to another area of code.

Thanks,
James

MessageI have not used the oledb data adapter against SQL Server 6.5, but I would suggest using the ODBC data adapter instead. The Odbc driver for Sql Server is somewhere between 5 & 20% faster than the OleDb driver for Sql Server with Sql2000, and I would assume that this holds true with Sql 6.5.
