Hi

In my web page i have a textbox which uses required field validate .... i want the validaor to occur only when I fire a click event of another link button called add

but it also fires when i want to go to the next page( which is another link button next) which I do not want . Can anyone suggest me how I am going to do

On the LinkButton that you don't want to cause validation just set the =
CausesValidation attribute of it to false. E.G.

<ASP:LinkButton
id=3D"foobar"
runat=3D"server"
CausesValidation=3D"False"
/>

Each button has a "causesValidation" attribute. Make sure it's set to
false on the buttons you don't want to trigger the validator.
