When I create a new web project in Visual Studio on a remote server(using
frontpage server extensions) everything seems to work correctly except one
thing.

VS doesn't set the application name for the virtual server.

When I create a new web project on localhost it works completely fine. It
used to work on my server but now it doesn't.... any ideas? Once I manually
set the application name my apps work fine but I still want to know what the
problem is here.

thanks in advance,

David

check your permissions on the remote server. Are you sure you have (admin)
access to the webserver folders and IIS settings ?

I am using the administrator account on my local system and when I am
prompted for a password in VS I provide the server's admin account.

any other ideas?

I still haven't figured out why VS isn't setting the application for the
virtual server... does anyone have any ideas?
