For instance, in the example below, is Option 1 any better than Option 2? Option 2 is less code, but it seems like it would be slower. Any thoughts?Thanks,JonGiven a basic class like the following:public class Appointment{ public DateTime StartTime; public DateTime EndTime; public string Name;}Option 1://retrieve the objectmyAppt = (Appointment)Session["Appointment"];//store new valuemyAppt.StartTime = myStartTime;//save to sessionSession["Appointment"] = myAppt;Option 2://save new value directly to session object((Appointment)(Session["Appointment"])).StartTime = myStartTime;

What make to think the second case is slower... theoretically you are
actually saving the creation of an addition variable ... so it should be
faster!!

Hi,

I was wondering what the best way is to access individual members of a
custom class that are stored in a session. For instance, in the example
below, is Option 1 any better than Option 2? Option 2 is less code, but
it seems like it would be slower. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jon

Given a basic class like the following:

public class Appointment
{
public DateTime StartTime;
public DateTime EndTime;
public string Name;
}

Option 1:

//retrieve the object
myAppt = (Appointment)Session["Appointment"];

//store new value
myAppt.StartTime = myStartTime;

//save to session
Session["Appointment"] = myAppt;

Option 2:

//save new value directly to session object
((Appointment)(Session["Appointment"])).StartTime = myStartTime;
