How to send parameters from HTML to .js file

SimpleTechie
Hi all, I have a jscript question. The users select a name
in a drop down list and enter a password in a input field
of a HTML page. I have a js file with the username-
password pairs. How do I pass these parameters to the js
file and return a true or false based on the comparison?

Hoping for pointers. Any code available?

1. Do use https to transmit a password.

2. Do not save/submit/pass/play with a password in plain text.
