Will Microsoft provide a designer like "the MMC Snap-in Designer for VB6" for VB.NET or any other .NET environment in the future? If possible,how long will it appear?

I remember that I heard on the VB.NET world tour that there will be a
replacement of the designer and/or MMC Snap-ins soon, but I don't know
when it will appear (maybe when the next version of Windows Server is
released?).
