Group,

After uninstalling/removing all .Net Framework related products from Windows
XP Professional Desktop (.Net Matrix, 1.0, 1.1, with Distributable SDKs for
each), I attempted to re-install the .Net Framework Ver 1.0 and received
the following messages:

Product: Microsoft .NET Framework (English) -- Error 1904.
Module C:\WINDOWS\System32\mscoree.dll failed to register.

HRESULT -2146232576. Contact your support personnel.

Product: Microsoft .NET Framework (English) -- Error 1904.

Module C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\mscordbi.dll failed
to register.

HRESULT -2147024894. Contact your support personnel.

By choosing to ignore these messages after several failed attempts to
"Re-try" registration, the install completed "Successfully", or so it says.
Unfortunately, I now seem to have several different kinds of script error
problems using IE 6 when accessing my favorite web sites (undefined
objects/expected objects not found).

I've checked to see that both files actually exist (they do) so, it seams to
me that this is some kind of registration problem. Using "regedit32", and
<EDIT><FIND> to locate "mscoree.dll", I can see several registration entries
referring the 1.1 Net Framework. Evidently, when un-installing .Net
Framework 1.1, the registry was not clean-up very well.

Can someone help me resolve this?

Would attempting to install the .Net 1.1 Framework at this point be a good
idea, would it resolve my registry problems?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's not clear to me why you went down this route, but in case you believe
that the 1.1 framework is a replacement for the 1.0 framework, it is not.
You can have both on your system (and you can have VS.NET and VS 2003 on the
same system too). Mscoree.dll might already be in your system folder - is
the 1.1 version still there? Just wondering if that's the issue, if you
uninstalled 1.1 and you're trying to install 1.0 again and there's a newer
mscoree.dll still there.
