Hello,

Is it ok to have the same typed dataset in the business layer and in the
data layer to facilitate movement between the tiers or is there a better way?

I think its fine. We use typed datasets in a number of distributed
application with great effect. They represent a common data model at all
layers of the application. They are easy to work with are good for most
situations. Some people prefer custom collection classes and if you have a
bit of extra time to put into this its ok too. I like the extra
functionality that comes with datasets (yes they have been referred to as
bloated but relatively speaking, I think they are ok) and its ease of
serialisation.
