Here is a couple, certainly not a definitive list :-
> *2-tier and 3-tier architectures
2 tier arch
- Easier deployment
- Can take advantage of SQL Session state easily (direct connect to DB)
- speed/performance (no network latency as in 3 tier)
- security is LESS than in 3 tier as a break in the initial server means
they have access to all your code and potentially DB.
- development is generally easier.

3 tier
- Security is higher. A breach on web server still does not mean the hacker
will have access toyour app server or DB
- flexibility in terms of scalability (ie. can have 3 app servers and 2 web
servers depending on where most work is done, 2 tier can just scale out the
single web/app server)
- deployment is harder
- network latency can slow the app down
- usage of SQLServer session state is harder as web typicaly cannot see the
DB, unless a separate DB is used for session storage that has direct access
from the web server
- managing remote communications can be harder and time consuming (ie. use
of remoting, web services and security associated with this).
