Chad Lashley (VIP)
We are just getyting started with setup and deployment for our app. This
group seems to have some info about setup issues mixed in with framework
setup issues. Can somebody reccomend a good resource, book, newsgroup, msdn
article on setup and deployment. I have gone through the walkthroughs but
they seem very basic and we will quickly need to hit advanced topics such as
upgrading, and SQL changes.

A book that I have just read and now would recommend is "The Definitive
Guide to Windows Installer" by Phil Wilson. It covers all forms of
installations including .NET.

While I have used Windows Installer for deployment before, it was not until
I got this book that it showed me the principles behind how Windows
Installer works - stuff that I ignored before just to get the job down. Now
that I have some installer issues, I needed to better understand what was
going on and so this book has done the trick for me.
