I have upgraded a few servers from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 and it
shows the .NET Framework is installed but it will not run. I have tried to
re-install it hoping that it would fix the current problem but it just tells
me that it is already installed. Since it is part of the OS it does not even
give me the option to uninstall it so I am at a loss on how to get the .NET
Framework to install and function correctly. I have included the event log
error I received, the dotnetfx install log, and the error I get trying to
open the .NET Config or Wizard mmc. Any help with this would be greatly
appreciated seeing as how I am getting this on all of my Windows 2003 Servers
that have been upgraded from Windows 2000 Server. I apologize if I should
have posted this in a different group. If this is not the appropriate group
could somebody please let me know which one I should post this to.

Thank You
Mark

The 1.1 framework is indeed part of Server 2003, that's perfectly normal.
What exactly is the issue here? When you say "it will not run", what does
that mean? It won't do anything unless some client applications use it.

Thanks for your response but I just figured out how to work around the
problem. Just for reference when I said it would not run I meant to say that
you could not run any programs that were dependent on the .NET framework and
if you tried to run the .NET configuration or .NET Wizards MMC from the
Administrative tools folder you would receive an error. When I tried to run
any of the .exe's (using the command line) from the v1.1.4322 directory I
would also receive an error, which leads me to believe that some how the .NET
Framework install was corrupted during the upgrade from 2000 to 2003. I had
to delete a .dll and delete the reg entry for the .NET Framework Setup before
I was able to successfully reinstall it.
