I have atempted to use the code advisor on 2 different machines and
both receive an error 430 in the error log. To verify that it was not
project specific I created a project that does nothing and it still
had the error.

Configuration 1: Windows 2000 SP4 VB 6 Service Pack 6
Configuration 2: Windows 2000 SP5 VB-6 Service Pack 3

Here is simple code:

Public Sub Main()
' This program does nothing and therefore code advisor
' is very messed up if it crashes on this one.
Exit Sub
End Sub

This is the error generated:
2004/09/09 8:46:40 AM    430    FixItAddin.Utilities.RegEx.Utilities.SeparateDelimitedString
(Control).Utilities.ScanVariables.FixItLocateUsage.IRuleHandler_SetEvalContext..Rule.SetEvalContext.FixItController.AddFixIts    Err.Description:
Class does not support Automation or does not support expected
interface---Rule: Soft Binding of Form or Control--Component:
mduDoNothing        1000430

If someone code help me resolve this error I would greatly appreriate
it.

Thanks.

Hi Roger,

Sorry you're having trouble with the VB6 Code Advisor. I'll be glad to try
and help.

I'm curious which version of IE6 do you have installed?

I have now got it working. The solution was to install Windows Script 5.6.

I have one - change the warning about Variants and late binding, especially
when they're used in the context of a "for each v(ariant) in c(ollection)".
The .NET converter changes variants to objects. When a variant isn't used
in this manner, the warning is appropriate. Otherwise, good and useful
product. I use it like the "lint" checker for to have it catch simple
errors that are syntactically and functionally correct but not optimal.
